Choose the right floor for your office premises

The floor needs to be adapted to the space both in terms of design and usability. Remember that the first impression can be made by the floor itself.

Consider your style and needs

Before you start choosing commercial flooring materials, it is important to have a good understanding of your business needs and style. Ask yourself questions like:

  • What is the impression of your commercial space?
  • Is durability or elegance a priority?
  • How heavy will the traffic be?
  • Will you have to clean the floors often?
  • What is the current level of your floor?
  • What is your floor made of now?
  • What is the climate and humidity in the interior?
  • And last but not least – What’s your budget?

If you ask yourself these questions first, you will get a clear direction. You can start looking for the right flooring options for your business.

Explore what the market can offer

There is a really wide range of options, and each has its advantages and disadvantages depending on your needs. Let’s look at some types of floors.

Wood

The classic look of the wood will never go out of style. They are easy to clean, relatively durable and with the right surface finish, they will last a long time. Wooden floors can be sensitive to moisture as well as dents and scratches. The wood can also be used very nicely to place the logo of your company.

Tiles

With tiles, you can really win with style, colors, size, or tile shapes. Their biggest advantage is definitely their durability and resistance to stains. Tiles are used where there is high traffic. However, they may not be comfortable for employees or customers who stand for a long time. Tiled floors do not muffle sounds in the company, which can be problematic in a noisy environment. Chipped or cracked tiles can also lead to costly repairs.

Rubber

Another functional choice for the floor is a rubber material that is waterproof and easy to maintain. In addition, it is non-slip and comfortable to walk on. The rubber is affordable and available in a variety of colors and patterns and is another popular choice for high-traffic areas. The downside is that if the rubber is wet it can be very slippery and dangerous.

Concrete

Today, the industrial style is very popular. You could say that it is too cold, but suitable accessories make it just the opposite and your space can have a very pleasant and modern impression. Various color pigments can be mixed into the concrete during production. These will then create the desired look and color of the concrete floor. Concrete floors are durable and hard to damage. Because concrete retains heat, polished concrete is an excellent choice for underfloor heating. Floors stay warmer longer, reducing heating costs.

Vinyl

Vinyl flooring is easy to maintain, lasts a long time, it is available in various colors and designs. For a company with high traffic and potential for frequent dents and scratches, vinyl can be a good investment. Vinyl floors may contain PVC, which is sometimes considered a health and environmental hazard during the production and disposal phases. These floors are sometimes more difficult to remove, they are sensitive to frost and high temperatures, so they are not suitable for the exterior, or for terraces, saunas or wellness areas.
