SHP Harmanec Doubles Down: New Production Line Changes the Game

Harmanec, 28 January 2026 – The SHP Group has successfully launched the new TL2 converting line at its factory in Harmanec. This represents a considerable technological leap forward and is part of the company’s long-term strategy for manufacturing modernisation and plant development. The total investment exceeded 3.9 million euros.

The new line has an annual capacity of 12,230 tons, which represents almost a twofold increase compared to the previous technology. Thanks to the modern G1 technology from the reputable Gambini supplier, it delivers a finer level of products, higher-quality winding and more stable production processes. At the same time, it enables the processing of paper with a standard width of 275 cm, made from both cellulose and recycled raw materials.

“This investment is another confirmation of our long-term vision to develop an industry that has economic sense, technological standards and respect for the environment. Harmanec is an example that modern industry can be built on the principles of circular economy and efficient use of resources. The new line is a small step within the larger concept of the further development of this factory,” said Milan Fiľo, President of the ECO – INVESTMENT a.s. holding.

SHP Harmanec has an exceptional position in the Slovak market. Approximately 40% of retail consumption of tissue paper in Slovakia originates from this particular factory. The company is also the only manufacturer of hygiene paper products in Slovakia that uses almost no primary fibres in the production of its products. Up to 90% of production is generated without the use of cellulose, which makes SHP Harmanec one of the key players in the circular economy in Slovakia.

“The modernization of the TL2 line allows us not only to significantly increase our production capacity, but mainly to enhance the quality of our products and the flexibility of production. At the same time, we are increasing our competitiveness in the European market for hygiene paper products and responding better to customer needs,” said Richard Žigmund, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SHP Group.

The modernization of the factory also has a significant regional impact. It creates new opportunities for subcontractors, companies providing services, and partner companies, and it indirectly supports the creation of further jobs in the Banská Bystrica-Harmanec region. At the same time, the company continues to invest across the entire paper processing spectrum – from the collection and sorting of raw materials to their technological utilization and return to their further life as products.
